NY Parents and Children Rally Against Bullying

Children at Occupy Wall StreetNY Parents & Children Rally Against NYPD Bullies
March in Solidarity with Occupy Wall Street

This Saturday [Today, December 10, 2011], Parents for Occupy Wall Street will march with our children from Union Square to City Hall Park to deliver a “stop bullying” message to NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and his boss, Mayor Michael Bloomberg.  This event will mark International Human Rights Day. The children will place 5,000 paper hearts, one for each peaceful protester arrested nationwide over the past three months, in the center of the park.

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, December 10th, in Union Square at 11 AM, the children will hold a General Assembly, and paint the paper hearts.  At 12:30pm, we will march down Broadway to Foley Sq. (State Supreme Court) and then to City Hall Park, arriving at approximately 2 PM.

“We teach our children at home and in schools that bullying is wrong,” said Mark Hamilton of Parents for Occupy Wall St. “The violence by some in the NYPD against peaceful protesters is confusing our children; we are left to explain unprofessional and inexcusable actions.” Continue reading

NY’s Tea Party Guv Gives 1% a Tax Cut

IW: I figured it was the media swallowing NY Guv Cuomo’s PR wholesale when they were reporting he was hiking taxes on the wealthy.  Cuomo got elected with contributions from the Koch Bros.  Cuomo stated before taking office that the rich are taxed too much already.  Cuomo refused to ever discuss repealing the rebate of the stock transfer tax.  He still doesn’t get it.  One. Term . Governor.

Green Party Slams Cuomo’s Tax Cut For The Rich

The Green Party of NY State slammed Gov. Cuomo and the State Legislature’s proposed tax bracket reshuffling as a major tax giveaway to the wealthiest New Yorkers.  The Green Party also called for seizing the assets of the “too big to fail” banks, breaking them up, and turning them into state and community owned banks oriented towards developing the economy for the public good.

“Cuomo’s plan is once-again a tax giveaway to his friends on Wall St. and in the 1% who donate to Democratic and Republican party campaigns.” said state party co-chair Howie Hawkins. ”Gov. Cuomo should explain why his regressive tax reform, which cuts taxes for the wealthiest should be adopted when it will actually cause a a multi-billion dollar budget deficit.  Last year I ran on a platform of raising personal income tax rates to the progressive rates of the 1970s and collecting the stock transfer tax, and using that money to and provide full employment through a Green New Deal. It’s time to make the Wall St. criminals and the wealthy pay for the mess they created. If we followed the Green Party plan, we’d raise nearly $8 billion yearly from income taxes while cutting what most people pay, and collecting the $15 billion we get from the stock transfer tax would go a long way towards making Wall St. clean up the mess they created.

State party co-chair Howie Hawkins pointed out that a family making:  Continue reading

These numbers may change slightly when the People’s Library gets an exact count of the recent (and final) retrievals from Sanitation, but not considerably. Continue reading
